The Royals blew 31 saves last year out of 66 opportunities, a 53% conversion rate. The league average was 66%. If the Royals had been average in the conversion rate, that's another 12 wins, and they would have been 74-88. The Royals were 20th in runs and 19th in OBP - a slight increase in batting could easily add another 10 wins. There's no reason the Royals can't hit .500 in wins this year - they had a great 2nd half last season despite the poor pitching. If the moves pan out, I predict 82-80. Another good off season of moves and they could improve even better in '08.
