It will be very interesting if we sign some of the mid-to-late HS picks. For example Sean McCauley, a catcher, would immediately become our best prospect at the position if we sign him. But we took him in the 12th round and I heard he was wanting to go top 5 to sign. There are several others like that. Hopefully KC can sign a good number of them and beef up our system a bit.

WCU’s Holland signs with Royalsby Tyler Norris Goode CULLOWHEE – Western Carolina closer Greg Holland will forego his senior season after signing with the Kansas City Royals Monday night. A junior from McDowell, Holland was picked by the Royals in the 10th round of last week’s Major League Baseball Draft. He has been assigned to Kansas City’s Rookie-League squad in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Holland would not disclose financial terms of his contract except to say he got a “fair deal” and that the Royals will pay his college tuition until he completes his degree.
