Although technically the following is MLB-related, I'm going to post it in the GENERAL DISCUSSION forum for now.
I have decided to begin a game, where you - the poster - can submit a Playoff Bracket for this year's playoff games.
Here's how this game will work:
- You will receive 2 karma points for each Playoff winner guessed correctly. (All four contests)
- You will receive 4 karma points for each Championship winner guessed correctly. (Both ALCS and NLCS)
- And you will receive 8 karma points for the World Series winner guessed correctly.
- Note: You will then receive 1 extra karma point for the number of games in each matchup guessed correctly. For example: If I pick the Red Sox to beat the Angels in 4 games, and if the Red Sox *actually do* beat the Angels in those 4 games, I will receive 1 extra karma point.
Note: If you do not pick the number of games correctly, you will NOT receive that extra karma point.
Here's the key: Winners may not only receive karma points from yours truly, but also others on the board. As an administrator, there's no way I can stop smiting and exalting. However, I do have power to change your karma to astronomical levels (in either direction). Sooooo...once you're the winner, I will send you the karma.
I'm going to participate in this contest. Why? 'Cause it's fun. So, if I win, then I'll give myself the karma points as well.
I realize this contest may be short-notice for some, so I will allow everyone to take until Wednesday (Oct. 3) to complete their list, even though two of the playoff games begin Tuesday.
If anyone below needs an example of what their bracket should look like, I'll provide my own below.
PLAYOFF MATCHUPS (ALDS/NLDS):
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim over Boston Red Sox in 4 games
Cleveland Indians over New York Yankees in 5 games
Philadelphia Phillies over San Diego Padres/Colorado Rockies in 5 games
Chicago Cubs over Arizona Diamondbacks in 5 games
CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHUPS (ALCS/NLCS):
Cleveland Indians over Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 5 games
Philadelphia Phillies over Chicago Cubs in 7 games
WORLD SERIES MATCHUP:
Cleveland Indians over Philadelphia Phillies in 6 games
(No, you do not have to color highlight each of the teams
)
Also, keep in mind that you do NOT have to include the number of games in each matchup, if you don't want to. As a result, you will not receive those extra karma points.
