Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the second annual Royals Minor League Survivor. For those not familiar with survivor contests that have now become almost routine here at Royals Nation, the rules are explained below.
For those curious about my criteria for Royals Minor Leaguers who made the cut for this game.
The list will be provided below. Available are links to that particular player's page from The Baseball Cube, a website that compiles statistics and pertinent data from the Majors, Minors, and some colleges and high schools.
*BELOW ARE THE RULES*[/u]
Minor League Survivor will ultimately be your chance to exercise your skills as "Fantasy Scout". Decide which players will go, and decide which players will stay! But please be rational - don't vote out Eric Hosmer because he hasn't signed yet!!! We all know Hosmer has more overall potential, than say, Matt Wright (sorry, Matt, if you're reading this).
Like last year, the goal/objective for this game is to a) not take it too seriously and have a good time while b) learning about our Minor League players.
Without further adieu, let the voting begin!
For those curious about my criteria for Royals Minor Leaguers who made the cut for this game.
- I decided to eliminate as many players widely considered 'organizational filler' as possible. In other words, players not on the 40-man roster, such as Jason Smith, Brian Buchanan, and Brandon Duckworth, were not included in this contest. Given the multitude of rookie-ball players and recent draftees that we still need to evaluate, I considered the elimination of veterans only necessary.
- I limited these selections to players with high upside and potential. In other words, 20 year old backups in low-A ball would not necessary make this cut. I used my own common sense in this regard.
- Recent amateur draftees who have NOT been signed and/or assigned to a Minor League affiliate HAVE been included in this contest. Examples would include Tim Melville and Eric Hosmer. Here's to hoping these guys sign AND get plugged into the system at least by the time this game resumes, or at least by the deadline to sign June draftees, which is 10:59 p.m. on August 15.

- Like the previous edition of Survivor, Minor Leaguers will be eliminated one by one until we reach the final Minor League player.
- This contest will be performed by round. In one round, THREE votes for ONE player will eliminate that player.
- Only one member is allowed to vote in one particular round.
- Guests to the website (i.e. non-members) MAY vote!
- IF a player gets promoted to the Major Leagues OR gets released/traded by the organization, we will simply eliminate that player from future voting and move on.
- IF a player gets demoted to the Minors, that player may or may not be included at my approval. (Players like Alex Gordon - theoretically - would be included, whereas a player like Jeff Fulchino probably would not.....just saying....)
- Once Survivor begins, there will be NO additions to the Minor Leaguers available to choose from.
- IF a Survivor-worthy MiLB prospect gets added to the organization, that player will not be included in this contest.
- IF a drafted prospect never winds up actually signing with the Royals, he will be eliminated from the contest (even if he has already been eliminated). In other words, if Eric Hosmer wins the contest, but never signs with the Royals, the Minor League Survivor champion will be awarded to the next player down the list who is actually playing for the Royals.
