i think if they get the right offer, gil meche is gone. i dont know if thats the right move, i mean when does the rebuilding stop? When they have an absolute plethora of good, young players about the same age that are showing signs of improvement. We're really not that young of a team (average about 28, barely younger than Meche--sixth youngest in all of baseball...I'd say there's much more of a gap between us and the youngest than us and the top five oldest.) And they won't trade him. They've said they won't and he has a no-trade clause that he doesn't want to waive.

I'd be hard pressed to believe Grudz won't be a Type-B. I mean, David Riske, a set-up man, could net us Mike Montgomery. Why can't a .300/.350/.400, above average second baseman (101 OPS+) net us something in return in next year's amateur draft? It should be harder for that second baseman to be top 40% than an RP.

Top 40% among all second baseman or among all MLB players? I'm still not exactly sure how nominating players for Type A or B works. (By the way, shouldn't it be 'x' players at your position? I mean, one shouldn't expect Ross Gload to slug .400 at the position he plays. ;D)

Per Rotoworld: ESPN's Jayson Stark says the Braves have displayed intrest in the Royals Jose Guillen
Guillen might come cheaper in terms of prospects than some other power-hitting outfielders, but that's because he's owed more than $28 million through 2010. It's thought that the Royals are interested in Jeff Francoeur. The Braves would be foolish to make that trade when the two are such similar players and one is much cheaper and younger. Still perhaps something could be worked out if other players (Zack Grienke ? Brian Bannister ?) were added to the mix. July 24 4:26 PM ET

From MLBTR:
How much does DM believe in Buck ? Would he go after former Brave Salty ? What would it take to get him ?

Why I don't see Tex as that much of an upgrade over Casey but ok.

It's a good move for the Angels only if they get to resign Tex after the season. Then it is a great trade. Otherwise they will have a big hole at 1B and there won't be much on the FA market and they will have to do another trade.

So with Jose Guillen asking out of KC, who do you all see as possible teams we could trade him to?
Mets, Phillies, D-backs... anybody else?
