As of this very minute, what would your Top 10 Royals prospect list look like? Also, this is important: Assume that all of our draft picks from this June's first-year player draft (Eric Hosmer and Tim Melville included) HAVE been signed. Here is Baseball America's Top 10 Royals prospects, issued before the 2008 season. On the bottom right of the main RN screen is the Top 25 Prospect List from The Royal Tower.Don't include Hochevar or Aviles, since they are already with the big club. --------------------------- Here is my list: 1. Eric Hosmer 2. Mike Moustakas 3. Daniel Cortes 4. Tim Melville 5. Carlos Rosa 6. Blake Wood 7. Daniel Duffy 8. Joe Dickerson 9. Tyler Sample 10. Chris Lubanski

Chris Lubanski Wow - no love for Mike Montgomery? He was arguably the best lefthander in the draft and was most definately the best HS LHP in the draft. I will post my list shortly but I do not think Lubanski would make my top 10 for sure, he just stuggles too much in making contact.

Lubanski has fallen since the beginning of the season, and I'm probably among his most fervent supporters. He carries the extra baggage because he's a former first rounder, but think about it for a bit... He's 23 and he's made it to AAA after proving himself offensively at every level. He's always been slow to adjust, and his recent cold streak worries me, I admit....but I still think he's among the three or four best hitters in our organization. He definitely should have been protected last December.

It's great that you still support him, but look at this: 2008 AAA: 227 AB, 79 SO. That striking out once every 2.87 times at bat. A contact rate that is this poor is about impossible to overcome. Thus he is hitting .238 so far. Yes he is 23 but he is in his 6th season. He was drafted as a speedy CF who was a triples machine perfectly suited for Kaufman Stadium. Now he is a semi-power hitting LF with slightly below-average speed and a high SO rate. I would take Hosmer, Moustakas, Costa, Maier, Giavotella, McFall, and Kaaihue as players with better hitting potential and this is an organization with very few bats developing on the farm.

Here is my current top 10 list (assuming we sign our draft picks)
1. Eric Hosmer 2. Mike Moustakas 3. Daniel Cortes 4. Tim Melville 5. Blake Wood 6. Carlos Rosa 7. Daniel Duffy 8. Mike Montomery 9. Daniel Gutierrez 10. Derek Robinson
I see our system as a top 8 and then several prospects that are close in the 9 to 15 range. I could easily see Pimentel, Sample, Giavotella, Maier, or Dickerson ranked at 9 or 10.

Good to see you back posting JoseGuillenFan! Do you really see Pimentel as that high a rated prospect with his AA performance so far? Remember he was in High-A for about 2.5 years.
