Crow was taken ninth overall by the Nationals last year, but didn’t sign. Advised by Hendricks Sports Management, Crow asked for $4 million, turning down Washington’s $3.5 million offer. Crow is thought to be wanting a bonus at least as big as the one he turned down last year. He pitched this spring for the Fort Worth Cats in an independent league, going 3-0 with a 1.06 ERA. That’s the same path taken by Luke Hochevar, who went from the No. 40 selection in 2005 to first overall by the Royals in 2006. The picks before Kansas City’s: •Stephen Strasburg, RHP from San Diego State, went first overall to the Nationals. •Dustin Ackley, 1B/CF from North Carolina, went second to the Mariners. •Donavan Tate, OF from Cartersville (Ga.) High, went third to the Padres. •Tony Sanchez, C from Boston College, went fourth to the Pirates. •Matt Hobgood, RHP from Norco (Calif.) High, went fifth to the Orioles. •Zack Wheeler, RHP from East Paulding (Ga.) HS, went sixth to the Giants. •Mike Minor, LHP from Vanderbilt, went seventh to the Braves. •Mike Leake, RHP from Arizona State, went eighth to the Reds. •Jacob Turner, RHP from Westminster Christian Academy (Mo.), went ninth to the Tigers. •Drew Storen, RHP from Stanford, went 10th to the Nationals. •Tyler Matzek, LHP from Capistrano Valley (Calif.) High, went 11th to the Rockies.

Royals also got Will Myers in the 3rd. a guy who was projected to be a 1st rounder(even saw him to us at 12 inone of the mocks)
