Looks like Tim Beckham will be taken #1 overall. The Rays director is on record as stating today he will select the HS SS.

I would say as long as we can get him signed soon and get a hundred or so ab's before the fall league I will feel better about the pick.

I would have preferred someone who can make an impact sooner than later. Let's hope he develops quicker and better than some previous HS picks.

thats great. I would love to see him in KC by 2011, maybe the end of the 2010 season.

I would imagine him and Moose arriving in KC around the same time. If we're lucky towards the end of 2010 with a solid chance of making the team out of ST in 2011.

Good draft liked Homser hoped Alvarez would fall though. Like the pick of Giavotella and Sample. And love the pick of Melville granted he signs I mean the MLB site says he's compared to Phil Hughes when he was in HS and that he should have been a 1st Rounder. So all in all a good day one IMO.

Confused as to why they went Hosmer over Smoak, and I'm not real confident in this organization to properly develop a raw HS bat. Posey was the guy I wanted but his reported demands were ridiculous. Don't know anything about Montgomery, appears Sample is a project with upside, and was a bit of a reach Giavotella. Seeing Melville in the 4th made me feel quite a bit better, as did the article saying he and his family were most comfortable with KC...

according to Mellville's mom sounds like a deal between Melville and KC may not be far off.If we do than that is a massive steal

HUGE STEAL. It takes deals like this to turn a franchise around. Of course he may never pitch an inning in the majors for the Royals but to take a chance on a kid that has as much upside as he does, when everyone else passed thinking he would go to college is awesome. If you have enough of these moves, a few are bound to pan out.
