Hi, I was bored and started looking up stats, Rivera is unsurprisingly head and shoulders above all the other relievers accumulating a 39.8 WAR. Jansen is at a 17.4 WAR Jansen was a catcher so he has a lot less bullets on his arm, he also never had a season less than 1.5WAR as a reliever. He’s only 30 and is coming off back to back years of 3.5WAR and insane K:BB ratio. Kimbrel while a lot more bullets on his arm, is almost a year younger. He’s also coming off a 3 win season with an outrage 16.8 K/9 ratio. Similarly, his career WAR is the same as Jansen. He seemed to take a step back when he went to the Padres but fixed that last year. Relievers are expected to get crucial outs rather than saves but their dominance doesn’t waiver. If the pair average 2 WAR seasons until theyre 40, they’ll have surpassed him but that in itself just shows how filthy Mariano was at his time. I’m not expecting it to happen but I’m curious if anybody else thinks that their dominance is sustainable and could eventually get them in the conversation for all time greats. They’re already in the top 20 best relievers ever, any chance they get to number 1 or even in the top 5 when it’s all said and done? Thanks! For more details: Product Rebranding Example
