Some mixed starts from our organizations top prospects. IMO the number that jumps out at me the most from this group is Blake Wood's K:BB ratio of 16:1 in only 10 Innings Pitched.

The Royals starters in AA have been as good as advertised thus far and Mike Moustakas has started to drive the ball having hit 2 HRs on the season now both coming within the last 2 weeks.

I'm going to begin a new segment to the "Top Prospect Watch Thread" called the good, the bad, and the ugly. The segment will focus on some lesser known Royals Minor League prospects - in essence, players who do not have watch threads dedicated to them in the Player Watch Threads forum. I hope to update this brief report weekly or bi-weekly, depending on my schedule.

My first report will center on the Omaha Royals. Anyway, Baseball America-style, here goes:

OF - Mitch Maier (.378/.397/.595/.992, 17 G, 10 XBH in 28 hits overall, should Mark Teahen be worried?)
MIF - Mike Aviles (.367/.396/.687/1.083, 30 RBI in 150 AB, simply raking - possible successor to Grudz or Pena in K.C.?)
COF - Shane Costa (.309/.356/.551/.907, 24 RBI in 34 G, another Teahen successor?)
IF - Angel Berroa (.311/.328/.538/.866, 3 E in 31 G....I know, I know...but Pena should still be worried)

SP - Kyle Davies (2.43 ERA, 1.22 WHIP in 7 GS....his ERA outweighs his peripherals a bit, but it's definitely progress)

He was at 37/1...but went on to walk four in his next 17 innings (how awful, lol).
