Yeah, you just have to go mad crazy collecting top prospects and then figure out who goes where later. Of course, Kemp, Loney, and LaRoche are all MLB-ready in my mind--even though LaRoche had a few struggles. But what rookie doesn't? The only thing is that he really doesn't have much to prove in AAA, so he'd need to come up. And it's way too soon to start talking about Moustakas in Kansas City. He's an unsigned high school player. Like someone said on RoyalBoard, even if he moves as fast as Butler, which was pretty fast for a high school kid, he wouldn't be up until May 2010.

Also, I really hope we don't get Coco Crisp even though I like his name and his workout habits. We have enough underachieving outfielders. To open with Boston, I'd run out Ellsbury, Buchholz or Bowden, knowing that it would be unlikely to get done...start high. Depending on their view of their chances, their prospects and Octavio Dotel, maybe we can get away with a Lars Anderson/Craig Hansen package--I think they're getting down on Hansen. Or an Anderson/Caleb Clay package.
With LA, I'd start high the way Moore has allegedly done and then hope for a Meloan/Miller package or DeWitt/Miller.
I think NYY is harder to figure out because they have a lot of really high end prospects and then a steep drop-off. Maybe JB Cox and a lesser? It really depends on how comfortable Cashman is in his job. There have been whispers and even Steinbrenner suggested canning him if it doesn't get turned around, so he might be giving enough to take advantage.

I like LaRoche as well but really feel no need for another 3rd Baseman in the organization with AG and Moose on the horizon. maybe Moose plays 2nd, AG plays 1st and LaRoche at 3rd Now those three would make up a scary IF if they all hit the way that many expect them too thruout there careers.

Yeah if someone at the beginning of the season would have told me that in late July TJ would be hitting in the mid to upper- .270s I wouldn't have believed them for a second.

Wow! LaRoche walked 15 times in 18 Dodger games! Wow! He had a .4-something OBP to get his OPS up to .700. He's been on fire in AAA. If we could get him for Dotel and put him at first, that would be pretty amazing!

According to Ken Rosenthal, from FoxSports.com: msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7050210?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=49The Dodgers have jumped to the forefront on Octavio Dotel, with Takashi Saito ailing. According to Rosenthal, the Royals aren't demanding the very specific bounty Joel Sherman claimed. Instead, they just want a near MLB-ready player. Rosenthal says Tony Abreu is out of reach but Chin-Lung Hu might not be. He suggests moving Hu to second base to accomodate Tony Pena Jr., which should probably be reversed. It appears the Indians wouldn't surrender Franklin Gutierrez or Ben Francisco for Dotel. I'd give one up, personally.

Also, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post: www.nypost.com/seven/07222007/sports/lets_get_a_move_on_sports_joel_sherman.htm?page=1The Royals want a righthanded-hitting center fielder in return for Octavio Dotel. Now that's a tall order. Sherman names Lastings Milledge and Carlos Gomez as two who fit the bill, but such a trade would require young talent like Zack Greinke coming back to the Mets. Just speculating, but Melky Cabrera and Reggie Willits also fit the Royals' need.

According to Lee Warren over at Royal Reflections: Starting pitching is at such a premium as we near the trading deadline that Mariners GM Bill Bavasi is thought to be considering a move for Odalis Perez. He's also presumably considering Jose Contreras and Matt Morris. Odalis Perez is 5-8 with an ERA near 6.00. Bavasi would probably be doing the Royals a favor if he pulled the trigger on this one. seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/mariners/2003797696_stone20.html

oh man if we could nab Willits for Dotel I'd do it in a heartbeat I'd want a younger and better prospect for Dotel than Willits. He's a 26 year old rookie and his numbers have regressed since all of the hoopla about how he's doing this season. A 26 year old rookie taking the league by storm for 2.5 months usually don't fare so well over the course of their careers.

This according to MLBTradeRumors.com:
Latest On Octavio Dotel You know what I love about the Kansas City Star? The enormous, extreme close-up pixellated player photo that seems to accompany every article. It's bizarre in a good way.
Anyway, Bob Dutton gives us the latest on hot commodity Octavio Dotel. According to Dutton, the Dodgers and Indians are at the forefront, with the Red Sox, Mets, and some other teams monitoring the situation.
As before, Dutton indicates that the Dodgers are the best possibility. They refuse to part with Tony Abreu, however. Abreu is seen as Jeff Kent's replacement at second base, though Kent is still going strong and his 2008 option becomes guaranteed with 550 plate appearances this year. Barring injury, he'll reach that.
This seems parallel to the shortstop situation, where Rafael Furcal is signed through 2008 and Chin-Lung Hu is knocking on the door. For some reason Dutton seems to view Hu as more available than Abreu.
The Indians won't give up outfielders Franklin Gutierrez or Ben Francisco, at least not yet. Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer confirms the info. Is Francisco really anything more than a fourth outfielder?
The Red Sox could go after Dotel and Reggie Sanders in a package deal, perhaps with Wily Mo Pena going to KC.
If Dayton Moore gets anything close to his asking price, the Dotel rental will end up a fantastic move.
