It's 2003 all over again. Go, go Jason Jennings!
Geez, they stuck with the sidewinding soft-tosser Chad Bradford for three innings.
Pena now has 3 homers! That's on pace for about 25 on the year!

I also use the Royals on MLB 07, I am currently in 2013 and have brought 3 World Series Trophies home 2 KC-AG has collected the ROY and 2 MVPS also added a 40-40 season and drove in a record 196 runs one season, Butler added a ROY and 3 MVPs,Teahen hit safely in 65 straight games and I just added A-Rod for $6.5 Million a season!
I only thing about the game i don't like is the inability to be able to keep players from really wearing out and playing everyday.

I don't want my starting guys playing everyday, it wouldn't be real. Now is my 9-3 start real...probably not. But oh well. And some of those stats are just too ill. And you signed A-Rod? My goodness. Where did Sweeney end up in the end...retiring after the 07 season?

Royals Sweep O's Teahen Two HR's Lift KC.
Mark Teahen hit two solo home runs, and Odalis Perez allowed one run in seven innings to aid in Kansas City's 4-2 win over Baltimore.
After Perez spotted Baltimore a 1-0 lead on a solo home run by Nick Markakis, Teahen led off the fourth inning with a smash that cleared the right field wall. "It was good to see us answer right after giving up the homer," said Manager Buddy Bell, whose Royals are a Major League best 10-3 after 13 games.
Teahen also homered in the seventh inning to break the 1-1 deadlock.
But small ball would end up being the winning recipe for Kansas City. Back to back singles by Alex Gordon and Ross Gload started the Royal rally. John Buck sacrificed Gordon and Gload over to second and third bases. Then unexpected back to back bunt singles by Joey Gathright and Tony Pena, Jr. sealed the deal. They each drove in runs.
Not all was peachy for the victorious Royals. They left nine on base and were caught stealing five times.
Octavio Dotel threw a scoreless inning to notch his four save in as many chances.

Arrrrrghhh! I have some serious bad news on the dynasty front. I accidentally saved over my dynasty file with a new roster (just some edits to Billy Butler). I will try to pick up w/the road trip in Detroit...but my record and stats will be completely different. Ugh doggone it....sorry guys. Man do I feel like an idiot. This is mad worse by the fact that my Eldred & Matos for Shealy and Brown trade won't work now...but made better by adding in Berroa for Matt Capps. So, the new trade is Eldred, Jose Hernandez (for Matos) and Capps for Berroa, Shealy and Brown. I also broke down and traded away my beloved Royal, Mike Sweeney (had a log jam at 1st w/Butler and Eldred) to Colorado for Rodrigo Lopez. So I simmed up to the Detroit road series....and my record is the EXACT opposite of what is was before....3-10. Ouch. For my mess up, I simmed the rest of the season because I would rather just start fresh. Here was the monthly breakdown: April: 10-17 May: 14-14 for month; 24-31 overall *DeJesus out for season -- ruptured disc in back** June: 8-19 for month; 32-50 overall July: 11-14 month; 43-64 overall August: 7-21 month; 50-85 overall Sept/Oct: 12-15 month; 62-100 overall World Series: Yankess defeat Padres. This is made worse...because now I have to slash payroll (sounds familiar) to get my head above water. I was well below $0 for funds. Anyways...offseason stuff. DeJesus retired due to the injury. So did Justin Huber. Others that retired include Mussina and Rivera (Yanks), Stairs (Tor), Rogers (Det), Ibanez (Sea), Lofton (Tex), Alou and Hernandez (NYM), Myers and Moyer (Phi), Biggio (Hou), Kent (LAD), Hoffman (SD), Bonds (SF). With the slashing of payroll I let Buck (2.2 mil per) and Grudzielanek (1.2 mil per) go in hopes to find a catcher and 2B in the draft. And sure as crap, I did in Dorsey Roland. Then, to fill a massive hole in LF, I drafted In-Ho Kwon, a switch-hitting slugger. My third pick also was of the international flavor in 2B Osamu Sasaki. My other two picks were Issac Walter and Amado Montano (SP). Each draft pick signed with no problem. So came the off-season signing market. I didn't have much in the way of money to work with, but I did manage well. I signed CF Chris Duffy (2 mil over 4 yrs), 2B Tadahito Iguchi (3 mil over 3 yrs), and RP Mike Myers (600K over 3 yrs). I also added a couple of no-named prospects in C Shiro Miura (130K, 3 yrs) and UTIL Monty Mudd (550K, 3 yrs). Two huge signings I also had were SS Orlando Cabrera (9.51 mil over 5 yrs) and SP Esteban Loaiza (5.26 mil, 5 yrs). So, hopefully the 2008 season works out better than the 2007 crash and burn.

Oh, man. That's a crushing blow. Don't worry - I've been there before. In fact, I was managing a Boston Red Sox dynasty last week and the game completely froze on April 30. Don't worry though, it's a long, long season. Hopefully we can make up ground and win the World Series this year.

Well, here's the low down for the 2008 season...the short, short version...as I want to get a game or 2 in before my wife gets home. LOL! Notice a lot of the usual names are not on the roster for the year, however I managed to keep the core group that I wanted.
Kansas City Royals 2008 Lineup CF Chris Duffy SS Orlando Cabrera 1B Brad Eldred RF Mark Teahen DH Billy Butler 3B Alex Gordon C Dorsey Roland 2B Tadahito Iguchi LF In-Ho Kwon (Watch out for this guy!)
Bench OF Joey Gathright
SS Tony Pena, Jr.C Ken Huckaby (had to send TPJ back to Omaha) 1B Ross Gload Util Esteban German
Rotation SP Gil Meche SP Jason Jennings SP Brian Bannister SP Esteban Loaiza SP Odalis Perez
RP Zach Greinke RP Mike Myers RP Joel Peralta RP David Riske RP Joakim Soria RP Matt Capps CP Octavio Dotel
Spring Training -- the mighty fighters in Blue went 13-17. Leading the way offensively was second year stud 1B brad Eldred. Eldred batted .277 with 6 HR and 16 RBI. Not too far behind was rookie LF In-Ho Kwon. The rookie from China batted a team-leading .323 with 5 HR.
Pitching was a bit on the tedious side. Each starter won at least one game, led by Gil Meche, Jason Jennings and Odalis Perez notching two wins. But it was relieved Joakim Soria that led KC with three total wins and a 3.98 ERA.
Onto the regular season!

Great how many more 100 lose seasons must we go through? Hopefully this will be the last of them. I have a real strong, young nucleus that is built for the long-term.

Optimisum? Nope.
By Cowboy Nick Kansas City Herald
Well here we are the start of the 08 season sure their is reason to be optimistic every team has that right baseball is just starting up every team has a clean slate but our Royals coming into 2007 hoping for great things goes 62-100. Ouch.
Yep our good old buddy's the Yankees won the ring. Again. And on top of that we lost our budding superstar David DeJesus to a career ending injury. And add a spring training record of 13-17 not worth jumping for joy that's for sure. Let's grade the players,
CF Chris Duffy ( Not to sure but the Gm must see something I don't in this guy who screams average)
SS Orlando Cabrera ( Proven vetran who needs to lead the team.)
1B Brad Eldred ( The budding star let's hope he doesn't get ko'ed like DeJesus)
RF Mark Teahen DH Billy Butler 3B Alex Gordon ( 3 hopeful stars)
C Dorsey Roland ( A rookie don't excpect much this year)
2B Tadahito Iguchi ( Can't belive he's here for 3years what was GMMP thinkin when he signed him for 3years?)
LF In-Ho Kwon ( This guy could be a stud player let's cross our fingers)
Starting Players for now C in the Future A
Bench Players:
OF Joey Gathright C Ken Huckaby 1B Ross Gload Util Esteban German
Just an average bench could see Huckaby get some playing time if Roland can't put it together at the big leauge level. Bench C The RotationSP Gil Meche SP Jason Jennings SP Brian Bannister ( 3 legit starters)
SP Esteban Loaiza SP Odalis Perez ( 2 washed up vetrans who could become trade bait at the deadline)
Starting rotation C only because of the first three if the 4 and 5 guys were better it would be a B+
Bullpen RP Zach Greinke RP Mike Myers RP Joel Peralta RP David Riske RP Joakim Soria RP Matt Capps CP Octavio Dotel ( Pretty good bullpen I see Dotel getting traded before the seasons end and one of the young guys getting a shot at closing Bullpen C+
Overall I'm thinking 72-90 with the roster constantly changing.

That is one heck of a write-up! Hopefully I won't have another case of stupidity and save over the dynasty again. The GM's thoughts:
That's okay. We had a great start to 07 then it fell apart. Money was scarce and I did not do a good job of running te organization. 08 I swear can and will be different. There is a new aura in the clubhouse. We have signed long term deal with some proven veterans such as Orlando Cabrera. This team will surprise.

08 Starts Like 07
Last season, the Kansas City Royals lit up the American League to start off the season. Looks like things are about the same.
The Royals pounded 15 hits, and four Royals drove in two runs each to aid in a 9-4 Opening Day victory over Toronto.
Alex Gordon and Brad Eldred each hit two- run homeruns for Kansas City, who has now won their last two Opening Day games.
New acquisitions Tadahito Iguchi and Chris Duffy also drove in two runs each. Rookie catcher Dorsey Roland drove in the ninth run on a RBI single.
Toronto was paced by Vernon Wells and Lyle Overbay. Each hit home runs.
