Very much plodding along! And it isn't by choice, either. My time on here has been somewhat limited in general. Between class work and schools back in business, baseball has taken a back seat. I have 2 weeks before I take a Behavioral Science exam that covers three topics (Anthropology, Sociology & Psychology), and its a test I must pass. Yes, the fake GM of the Royals is trying to find himself a third/fourth career!

You get back to playing and I'll do your homework. We might be able to pull this off if you make me your assistant GM.

Done and done. Welcome to the team! Your first assignment. Read these three books (1 Anthropology, 1 Sociology and 1 Psychology) and tell me a general 4-6 page synopsis of each. Enjoy!

mtroyals, we can only hope you're not Allard Baird's clone. Looking forward to the next update! Feel free to hound us with statistical/standings updates, etc.

I'm always good for the stat/standing updates. I just wish there was a way to make the presentation "cleaner" and lined up. If I knew of the way to fix the code within the post to do that....because I am on other boards that have a "code" that automatically lines up things.

Yes I have that feeling...just had some things around here to take care of. Between 7th grade football (I'm the head coach) and severe weather deciding to almost destroy my house, and that pesky Behavioral Science class.....time is very limited. Cross your fingers, the all-star break that isn't the all-star break will end tomorrow!

Loaiza To the Rescue! Oakland Defect Saves KC, Bullpen in 5-1 Win.
Esteban Loaiza struggled mightily when he served as a member of the Oakland A's. But he didn't when he starred for the Chicago White Sox.
Maybe it's something about the AL Central that resurrects his career.
The veteran pitched six solid innings of baseball, and Billy Butler drove in a pair of runs to lead Kansas City to a 5-1 win over New York.
Other Royals driving runs were Joey Gathright, Brad Eldred and Orlando Cabrera. Gathright and Esteban German also stole a base each for Kansas City, now 7-5 on the season.
Kei Igawa took the loss for the Yankees. Igawa allowed all five of the Royals' runs in four innings.
Alex Rodriguez supplied the Yankees with their offense, by slugging a solo home run off of David Riske.

Yankees Take Last Game Royals Score Six in First Two Innings, Zero The Rest.
Johnny Damon went five-for-six and hit for the cycle to lead New York to a extra inning 8-6 gutty win to split the 4-game series with Kansas City.
Robinson Cano added three hits and two RBI for New York, who boost their record to 7-6.
Royals starting pitcher Brian Bannister struggled in his second consecutive start, failing to make it past the second inning. He allowed four runs on seven hits.
But the real problem was the over-stretched bullpen. Manager Ricky Ray went so far to have starters in live action. GM Mathias Platcheck was less than enthused with the managed bullpen.
"We will sit and chat about that," said Platcheck.
Billy Butler and Brad Eldred each drove in a pair of runs for Kansas City, who fall to 7-6 on the season.

Platcheck Shakes Things Up
Royals GM Mathias Platcheck is not scared to make deals. Even those that seem "one-sided".
Platcheck may be on the good side of his latest deal, trading pitcher Scott Elarton and CF Chris Duffy to the Los Angeles Angels. In return the Royals receive bonafide starter Bartolo Colon and outfielder Juan Rivera.
Both Colon and Rivera struggled in their season starts. Colon was 0-3 with a 7.68 ERA. Rivera was batting just .235 with one home run and six RBI.
"We hit a grand slam with this deal," said Platcheck, "Colon and Rivera will make immediate impacts on the ball club."
Platcheck made the deal despite the blazing hot start OF Shane Costa has had in Omaha. Costa is batting .423 with 15 RBI in a handful of games with the Triple A team.
