Did Moreno have Stoneman committed? He sure did, 5 years for about 1 million per. I am still shaking my head in pure awe how I pulled that deal off. I think a selling point was that Duffy was in his first year as well. But, frankly, he was sucking it up. This move opened the door for Joey Gathright to get more playing time. And we all know about Mr. Elarton's history in Kansas City. Royals Net Road WinBullpen Holds Serve in 10-9 Win.Billy Butler homered and drove in four runs, and Mark Teahen, batting eighth, also homered to lead Kansas City to a 10-9 win over the AL West leading Oakland A's. The Royals battered Oakland pitching to the tune of 19 hits. Orlando Cabrera, Brad Eldred, Butler and newly acquired Juan Rivera each had three hits for the Royals, 8-6. Randy Wolf, who was acquired to stabilize a rocky rotation, was roughed up for four earned runs on five hits in two and a third innings. A host of pitchers picked up the slack, with David Riske garnering the win. Joakim Soria pitching the final two innings to notch his second consecutive save. Eric Chavez, Brad Wilkerson, Marco Scutaro and Mark Kotsay each drove in two runs each for Oakland, 10-4. Notes: Jason Jennings will come off the disabled list and will make the start for Kansas City tomorrow. Oakland will counter with Joe Kennedy. Teahen hitting eighth? Wowsa. Yeah, I was a bit perturbed with the lack of production he's been giving. I almost pulled a trigger on a trade with him involved. Then I realized that he doesn't have much value.

Kennedy Quiets Royals Kansas City Just Garners Two Runs in Loss.
Joe Kennedy stymied the hot Kansas City Royal bats, and Marco Scutaro drove in a pair of runs to aid in a 4-2 Oakland win.
Nick Swisher and Eric Chavez also drove in runs for the A's, 11-4.
Jason Jennings, in his first start off the disabled list, gave Kansas City a solid start. He allowed just one run on five hits in five and two-thirds innings. He struck out seven but walked four.
Juan Rivera and Billy Butler drove in the runs for the Royals, who fall to 8-7 on the season.
Series Finale: Kansas City will look to their ace, Gil Meche to salvage a series win. Oakland will counter with Dan Haren.

Well, at least the real Royals offense wasn't alone today in their woeful struggles. Oh, it gets better.....NOT. Royals Slammed by A's6-Run Sixth Sinks KC.Home runs by Mark Kotsay, Jason Kendall and Nick Swisher powered the Oakland A's to a 7-2 win over Kansas City. The biggest of home runs was hit by Kotsay, who connected for a three-run shot off of Royal pitcher Gil Meche. Meche allowed four runs in five and two-thirds innings. Winning pitcher Dan Haren continued the silencing of the hot Royal bats, pitching eight innings and allowing just one run. The Royals received a boost from backup catcher Ken Huckaby, who went two-for-three with a double and a RBI. Ross Gload also notched two hits and a RBI for the Royals, who fall to .500 at 8-8. Oakland continues to tear up the American League with a blistering 12-4 mark. Royals G.M. Plotcheck On Hot Seat Owner Jorge Brensteiner Says Gordon Batting Third Has Him Second Guessing G.M. Hiring
What strange lineup will Mathias Plotcheck propose today? Nobody really knows. All they do know is that this team, the Kansas City Royals, whom everyone expects to get a pennant this season and contend for the World Championship, have drastically underachieved in the first month of the season.
Owner Jorge Brensteiner sounded unconvinced the current G.M. was the man for the job.
"These guys have guts. That's right, guts. Guts by the bucketload. It's astonishing to see them underachieving by this great a margin.
It ultimately falls back to the work of the G.M."
Brensteiner was also heard as saying, "Bat Gordon fourth or you're done". Plotcheck, utterly baffled and clearly angry by Brensteiner's words, had a couple retorts of his own.
"This is my ballclub, and I will manage the way I want to manage!"
Still no word if Brensteiner, or his top assistant Jack Dempsey, has been watching way too much The Bronx Is Burning on ESPN.

Ray Responds Resoundly to Owner
Royals Manager Ricky Ray stood up for his second in power, GM Mathias Platcheck today after the Royals 7-2 loss to the AL West Leading Oakland A's.
"What in the [crap] does Mr. Brensteiner think placing blame on the GM," said Ray, "if he wants to point fingers, point them at me. I'm the one that signs the damn lineup card."
"If he also wants to criticize these men for not playing to snuff, then he needs to look at our stats, especially our offense. We have four of the best hitting players in baseball," said Ray.
Ray has led the Royals to a surprising 8-8 start, which is good enough for third place. They are 4 1/2 games behind the AL Central leading Minnesota Twins.

Royals Bats Rise to Occasion Eldred Five RBI Boosts KC to 7-3 Win.
Brad Eldred homered and drove in five runs to spearhead a 15 hit attack by Kansas City, as they topped Detroit 7-3. Eldred hit a two-run home run in the eiegth off of reliever Macay McBride, then broke the game open with a three-run double off of McBride in the ninth.
Alex Gordon and Billy Butler, in a pinch hitting role, also drove in runs for Kansas City, 9-8.
Again, Kansas City used a load of pitchers, but this time, they were able to slow down the opposing offense. Picking up the win for the Royals was Zach Greinke. He pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
Jeremy Bonderman allowed just one run in his six innings of work for Detroit, striking out eight. But his relievers, Bobby Seay and Macay Mcbride, let the flood gates open. McBride was the most guilty, allowing six runs in his two worked innings.
Detroit received a two run double by Placido Polanco and a solo home run from Ivan Rodriguez.

Monroe, Tigers Slam Royals Outfielders Grand Slam Ruins Colon Royal Debut.
Criag Monroe, struggling with a sub-.200 batting average, busted out in a big way with a grand slam to lead Detroit to a 5-1 win over Kansas City.
The Tigers also receiver a strong pitching outing from fireballers Justin Verlander and Joel Zumaya. Verlander notched the win, pitching six and two-thirds innings of shutout baseball. He only allowed three hits while striking out seven. He walked two.
Zumaya allowed the only Kansas City run on a solo home run in the ninth from Brad Eldred.
Bartolo Colon had a decent start in his Royals debut, but was hampered by a lack of offense. he allowed three runs on seven hits in five and two-thirds innings.
News and Notes: The feud between owner Jorge Brensteiner and manager Ricky Ray has eased. Both exchanged public apologies in a news conference earlier today. "I have 100% confidence in Ricky's managerial skills," said Brensteiner.
The final game of the series comes tomorrow. The Royals will go with Randy Wolf, and the Tigers will go with Andrew Miller.

plotty, if you don't mind, I'm going to bury this until you post again.
I'm considering starting a similar dynasty myself, but probably won't post it at this website. It would basically be copying plotty's idea, but this looks like much fun.
