Iguchi Tips Tigers Rare HR by 2B Gives KC Series Win.
Tadahiro Iguchi smacked a solo home run off of Joel Zumaya in the eiegth inning, and Billy Butler drove in a pair of runs, including the game-winner on a sacrifice fly to boost the Royals to a 3-2 win.
Butler also drove in the first run on the heels of back to back doubles by Alex Gordon and Brad Eldred.
Royal start Randy Wolf kept the Tigers at bay, tossing five and two-thirds innings and allowing the two runs on the scoreboard. A host of Royal relievers carried the rest of the work.
Brian Bannister picked up his second straight winning decision in relief. Joakim Soria pitched a shut out ninth inning for his third save.
Next Series - at home vs Chicago White Sox Mon, Apr 28: Ullman (0-0) vs Jennings (0-0) Tues, Apr 29: Contreras (1-2) vs Meche (1-1)
Trade Winds: Mark Teahen may not be a Royal for much longer. According to Lenny L of royalssports.kc, Teahen has been rumored to be "actively shopped around" by many suitors, such as the Orioles, Giants and Rockies. The Royals are looking for a helpful long reliever in exchange.

Gathright CS twice? Why is Bannister in the Bullpen? Teahen's error can't help his trade value. Gathright had two terrible jumps on fastballs. He usually makes it in without a problem. As for Kwon and Butler they were caught in hit and run situations. Banny is in the bullpen because my five starters right now are my "best" arms (Granted, Banny in real life is kicking a$$). Meche has struggled a little, but the four others (Jennings, Loaiza, Colon and Wolf) give us the best opportunity to win. What sucks is that our bullpen has made an appearance in every game this season. It is stretched direly thin. We really need a day off to save the arms. As for Teahen, we need more production from a guy who hit 18 HR's and drove in 90 two years removed. Plus dropping balls in the outfield doesn't quite get it done. In-Ho Kwon also is rumored to be on his way out.

Konerko, Sox Slide By Royals South Siders Pound KC Hurlers for 15 Hits.
Well-known Paul Konerko and little known Luis Terrero homered and paced a 15 hit attack as the Chicago White Sox tipped the Kansas City Royals 5-4.
Konerko and rookie 2B Marshall Maddox each had three hits for the White Sox, 8-12.
Most of the White Sox hits came off of Royal starter Jason Jennings, who allowed 10 hits but just three runs in six innings. David Riske coughed up the fatal run in the ninth to net his second loss.
Juan Rivera homered and had four hits for Kansas City to raise his average to .321, up 90 points from his last game played as a Los Angeles Angel.
Alex Gordon and Dorsey Roland also drove in runs for the Royals, 10-10.

Sox Smashed by KC Eldred Hammers Another Homer in Win.
Brad Eldred crushed a 451-foot home run to center field off of starter Jose Contreras and drove in three runs to lead Kansas City to a 8-5 win over Chicago.
Juan Rivera and Alex Gordon had three hits and drove in three and two runs, respectively. Rivera had two doubles. Meanwhile, Gordon stole his Major League-leading tenth base.
Billy Butler was two for four and score three runs for Kansas City, 11-10.
Rookie Marshall Maddox and Jermaine Dye homered for the White Sox. Dye leads the American League with nine round trippers.
Brian Bannister has become a force out of the Royal bullpen, as he threw one inning to pick up his third win, in an auspicious way. He actually coughed up two earned runs on one hit in the inning of work.

Tigers Rip Royals Inge Drives in Seven Runs in 17-9 Romp.
Brandon Inge crushed a grand slam home run to a cap off a four-run ninth inning to lead Detroit to a 17-9 win over Kansas City.
1B Greg Norton also blistered the inemic Royal pitching to the tune of a five-for-six night. He also homered, drove in three runs and scored four times.
Jeremy Bonderman was given a 9-0 lead by the time he left in the sixth inning. He allowed two runs on five hits.
The Royals were destroyed on the mound, as the pitching staff allowed 20 hits. Esteban Loaiza allowed six runs in two plus innings to notch his second loss.
One bright spot was the emergence of OF Juan Rivera. Rivera went three-for-five on the night. He rudely welcomed Detroit reliever Bobby Seay by taking Seay's first pitch deep for a three-run home run.
The Royals closed to within 13-9 after a six-run charge in the bottom of the eighth inning. Two of the runs were driven in by pinch hitter Dorsey Roland.
Teahen Gone: The 2008 season for Mark Teahen will now be spent in a San Francisco Giant jersey. The oft-injured outfielder was dealt to the Giants for upcoming starting pitcher Sunny Kim.

Anger builds and for a good reason.
Kc fans have begun to turn on GM
By Cowboy Nick
Well I'm listening to my radio the game was on my Tv also but I had it on mute so I could listen to Denny Matthews sweet calls. I was not paying attencion as I tried to think of my next article for the paper. When suddenly I kept hearing this thing over and over and over. This pitching change brought to you by Tompkins Indrusties find them on the web at Tompkinsind.com.
What was this was my radio broke it is pretty old. NOPE. 12 differant Royals pitcher in one game one game! I'm pretty sure that's some kind of record folks. Could this be the reason fans hate I mean strongly dislike Ricky Ray? Or maybe it's his temper eh? I've heard some fans say we were better off with Buddy Bell and you know what we might have. Instead it's Bell's henceman Ray.
Could fans growing dislike of GM Platcheck be because of his trust in Ray or maybe because he traded Mark Teahen. I have no clue why girls fawned over this guy but they loved him. May because he was from California who knows. But he was traded to the Giants to his home state for P Sunny Kim. Who the GM said "is an upcoming starter". Well it maybe "sunny" someday but for a franchise with what seems like 100 hundred loss seasons in a row and no playoffs since 1876.
All I can say is we can always use more pitchers twelve just won't cut it.

Sunny Side Up Acquired Pitcher Shuts Down Tigers.
Sunny Kim allowed one earned run in six and one-third innings to help Kansas City earn a split of the brief two game series over Detroit 7-1.
Kim walked two and struck out seven batters. "I felt pretty good," said the former San Francisco Giant.
Kansas City had two RBI from Billy Butler and In-Ho Kwon. Butler drilled two doubles in the process.
Detroit scored their only run on a solo home run by Craig Monroe.
Losing Pitcher Justin Verlander allowed three earned runs on six hits. He walked five and struck out five.

Ray Lashes Out at the Cowboy
Ricky Ray defended his stand as Kansas City manager after the 7-1 game. His remarks were in light of Cowboy Nick comments of "using 12 pitchers" in the 17-9 loss to Detroit.
"If he thinks he can do better, then here's my ******* jersey," said Ray, "media types like him forget to read between the lines."
"Last season we lost over 100 games. Right now we're at or a game above .500. I would consider that improvement. I know our pitching has struggled at times, but we will find the right combination and will get in a rhythm. The pennant race is a marathon, not a sprint. We will find our way."

KC Holds Off Tribe Eldred Clubs Another HR
Brad Eldred smashed his eighth home run of the season, and Juan Rivera ripped a two-run single as Kansas City won back-to-back games.
Joe Nelson notched his first win on the season, tossing an inning and two-thirds of shutout baseball in relief. He allowed no baserunners and struck out three.
Cleveland took a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning on consecutive doubles by Hector Luna and Joel Inglett. The hits chased starter Luke Hudson, up on a recall from Triple-A Omaha. Hudson allowed three runs on six hits in three and two-thirds innings. He struck out two but walked a season-high six batters.
Cliff Lee kept the Royals at bay, despite allowing the moon shot home run to Eldred. He allowed just two runs on six hits. Reliever Rafael Betancourt took the loss. KC 0 0 2 0 0 0 2 0 0 4 10 0 Cle 0 0 0 3 0 0 0 0 0 3 6 0

Sorting things out After Ricky goes boom at myself by Cowboy Nick
Well I'm sure you've all read the comments by now what Mr.Rick Ray said yeap folks he shot his mouth off ounce again. I belive he said about myself:
Well folks I don't know about taking his jersey, I guess the poor man dosen't get that it's my job like the rest of the "evil" media to question what choices he makes. I'm not the kind of writer who "loves" everything the manager does no questions asked. If your in the wrong I'll call you out no problem. And beside 12 pitchers in one game is fine if your in September or even a close game but 17-9 is not a close game. What needed to be done was to have a reliver go more then a third of an inning. Much worse was that this embarassment happened at a home game.
GM Mathis Platcheck has done he is a great guy and a hard worker who knows that this is my job and if I have to call him out it's just part of my job, nothing against him. He understands it's not a personal shot. he is a great man.
Now if only he could teach Ricky some manners. Rick Ray was way out of line with his comments most writers would demand an apology if such a thing were said about them. Of course those are the writers without the guts to call out people's mistakes. The fact that I never got a call from Ray or any of the Royals PR staff is crazy. I'm not going to write about this stuff you fans don't care about this but it needed to be said and now we can all forget. deep breath ahhh
One last thing I don't read between the lines I write the lines.
Cowboy Nick
